Moteng is a public transport tracking app developed and operated by Meiwa (Pty) Ltd. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the app. By using Moteng, you agree to this policy.

For Riders

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Suburb (not full address)
• Device fingerprint
• Optional: Full address for ride notifications

For Drivers (in addition to rider data)

• ID or passport number
• ID or passport photo
• Selfie (for identity verification)
• Full address
• Proof of address
• Driver’s license number
• Driver’s license expiry date
• Driver’s license photo (front and back)
• Vehicle license plate number
• PrDP expiry date
• PrDP photo
• Vehicle License Disc
• Transport type (Bus or Minibus)
• Operating areas

Usage Data

• Riders: Number of map loads
• Drivers: Map access hours

3. How We Use Your Data

• To allow location-based ride tracking and notifications
• To facilitate communication between riders and drivers
• To verify driver identity and vehicle eligibility
• To provide operational notifications (ride alerts and account updates)
• To restrict account creation using device fingerprinting
• For usage analytics such as map loads and premium access

4. Payments

Moteng uses Paystack for all payment transactions. Payment data is collected and processed by Paystack through a secure WebView. Moteng does not store any payment information.

5. Advertising

Moteng displays advertisements within the app using Google AdMob, a service provided by Google. These advertisements help support the operation and maintenance of the Moteng platform.

Google AdMob may automatically collect certain information from your device in order to display relevant advertisements. This may include:

• Device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID)
• Approximate location information
• Device type and operating system
• App usage data related to ad interactions

This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policies. Moteng does not control the data collected by Google through advertisements.

Users can control or reset their advertising identifiers through their device settings.

6. Data Storage and Security

• Your data is securely stored on Google servers with strict security rules.
• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest through Google's and Paystack's infrastructure.
• We do not share your data with third parties other than Google and Paystack.
• Only Paystack handles payment information and Moteng never stores card details.
• Driver documents and identity data are reviewed by admins to verify identity and approve accounts.

7. Push Notifications

• Riders may receive alerts when transport is near their saved location.
• Drivers receive notifications about account status changes.
• All notifications are operational. Moteng does not send marketing messages.

8. Account Deletion

Users can delete their accounts at any time. When an account is deleted, all personal data will be removed except the device fingerprint, which may be retained for up to one year to prevent fraud and repeated account creation.

9. Age Restrictions

Moteng does not enforce a strict age limit, but the service is intended for individuals old enough to independently use public transport.

10. Policy Updates

If changes are made to this privacy policy, users will be notified through push notifications within the Moteng app. Continued use of the app means you accept the updated policy.
